Michael McLintock - chief executive
Michael McLintock was appointed chief executive in 1997 and oversaw the company's acquisition by Prudential in March 1999. He first joined M&G in October 1992.
Michael began his career with Morgan Grenfell as a graduate in 1983, working in the investment management and corporate finance departments. In 1987 he moved to Barings as a corporate financier.
Michael has been an executive director of Prudential since 2000 and served on the board of Close Brothers Group plc as a non-executive director (2001-2008). He has been a trustee of the Grosvenor Estate since October 2008 and joined the board of Grosvenor Group Limited as a non-executive director in 2012.
Michael has a first-class honours degree in Modern History and Economics from Oxford University.
Simon Pilcher - chief executive fixed income
Simon Pilcher is a director of M&G FA Limited and chief executive of the Fixed Income division.
Before joining M&G in September 1998, Simon spent nine years at Morgan Grenfell Asset Management, where he led fixed income teams investing in investment-grade corporate bonds and major G7 government bond markets.
Simon has an honours degree in management studies from Trinity Hall, Cambridge.
William Nott - chief executive M&G Securities
William Nott joined M&G as a graduate from Warwick University in 1984. He initially joined as a fund manager on the American Desk and then transferred to the UK Desk in 1993 where he managed UK funds for institutional pension clients.
In 1996 he became Head of Institutional Business Development and in 1998 he joined the Board of M&G as Head of Group Sales. In June 2000 he became Chief Executive Officer of M&G International to oversee the development of M&G’s fund distribution into Europe and from 2005-2009 he served on the Board of EFAMA (European Fund and Asset Management Association). In March 2006 he was appointed Chief Executive of M&G Securities, the combined Retail Business covering the UK, Europe and Asia.
In May 2007 he was appointed to the Board of the IMA (Investment Management Association). In March 2013 he became a member of the Consultative Working Group of ESMA’s (European Securities and Markets Authority) Investment Management Standing Committee, having previously served as a member of CESR Consultative Working Group on Asset Management. In May 2013 he was appointed to the Board of EFAMA (European Fund and Asset Management Association), having also served from 2005 - 2009.
Graham Mason - Head of Investment - Equities, Multi-Asset, Retail Fixed Income
Graham is Head of Investment responsible for the investment performance and processes for all M&G funds in the Equities business, including retail fixed income and multi-asset.
Graham was appointed to his role at M&G having undertaken a number of asset management roles within the Prudential Group since 1990 including Chief Executive of Eastspring Investments (Prudential's Asian fund management business), Chairman of Prudential Portfolio Managers South Africa, initially starting his Prudential career within Prudential Portfolio Managers within the UK. Graham has broad experience in asset management across both geography and asset class. As an investment professional Graham has directly managed equity, fixed income and asset allocation; and as an executive has, in addition to the traditional asset classes, been responsible for property, private equity and alternative assets.
Prior to joining Prudential, Graham worked at Old Mutual and Norwich Union.
Gary Cotton - chief executive equities
Gary Cotton is chief executive of M&G's Equities division. Gary joined M&G in February 1996. In 2001 he was promoted to head of Equities Business Management where he was responsible for the day-to-day business management and operations of the equities fund management business. He was appointed chief executive of Equities in November 2011. He is also a director of M&G Securities Limited.
Before joining M&G, Gary worked at Sedgwick Noble Lowndes.
Alex Jeffrey – CEO M&G Real Estate
Alex Jeffrey joined M&G Real Estate, the real estate fund management arm of M&G, as Chief Executive in July 2012. Alex has a wealth of experience in international real estate investment management and a strong track record of growing businesses. Before joining M&G Real Estate, he was global Chief Investment Officer for MGPA, the independent private equity real estate investment advisory business, based in Singapore. Alex held a series of senior positions at MGPA over the past 13 years, including European CEO, responsible for building the group’s business from its London headquarters. Prior to this, he worked in various senior investment management and corporate finance roles at Lend Lease Corporation, JP Morgan and HSBC. In all, Alex has 15 years’ experience of global real estate investment.
Grant Speirs - group finance director
Grant Speirs joined M&G as group finance director in November 2008 and is responsible for strategy, financial reporting and tax.
Grant was previously finance director of PPM South Africa for nine years, where he was responsible for investment operations, compliance, risk and IT, in addition to finance. Before this he spent two years at Maple Financial Group in the UK as a project accountant, before returning to South Africa. He originally qualified as a chartered accountant with Ernst & Young in Johannesburg in 1996.
Michelle Scrimgeour - chief risk officer
Michelle was appointed group risk director at M&G in June 2012. She has 25 years’ experience within the fund management industry, all of which was accumulated during a long career at BlackRock, previously Merrill Lynch Investment Managers (MLIM) and prior to that Mercury Asset Management. At BlackRock, Michelle was co-head of Fixed Income Business Management and a member of the Executive Committee leading the Global Fixed Income Division. Prior to this, she was BlackRock’s chief operating officer for International Fixed Income for five years and headed MLIM’s Alternative Investment Group for EMEA for three years.
Michelle was a member of the European Executive Committee of BlackRock which oversaw the firm's US$1 trillion EMEA business. She also served on the BlackRock Dublin Funds Board.
Anthony Ashplant - legal and compliance director
Anthony Ashplant became legal and compliance director of M&G in 1997. He has held various legal and compliance roles at M&G since 1993. He also managed M&G's retail fund administration department during 1996.
Before joining M&G, Anthony was a company secretary and legal adviser to a charity fundraising company from 1980 to 1982. He gained an LLB from King's College, London University in 1976, qualified as a barrister in 1977 and practised at the Criminal Bar until 1979.
Martin Lewis - chief operating officer
Martin Lewis became chief operating officer for M&G Group in 1999 with M&G's acquisition by Prudential. He first joined M&G in 1996 as IT director and in 1997 joined the M&G Board as IT and retail operations director. Before this he spent 17 years with JP Morgan Chase, leaving his role as a senior vice president in Global IS to join M&G.
Gareth Jones - HR director
Gareth Jones has been HR director of M&G Group since June 2007. He was previously head of Organisational Development and Training, having joined Prudential's fund management business in 1998.
Before joining M&G, Gareth was managing consultant with a consulting business, focused on leadership development and project and risk management with a particular emphasis on the financial sector. In his early career Gareth held a range of commercial and business management and development roles. Gareth has an MA in Modern Languages from Oxford University.
John Foley - non executive director, Prudential group investment director
John Foley has been Group Investment Director since August 2013. He joined Prudential as Deputy Group Treasurer in 2000 before being appointed Managing Director, Prudential Capital (formerly Prudential Finance (UK)) and Group Treasurer in 2001. He was appointed Chief Executive of Prudential Capital and to the Group Executive Committee in 2007. John became the Group Chief Risk Officer and was appointed to the Board in January 2011. Prior to joining Prudential, John spent three years with National Australia Bank as General Manager, Global Capital Markets. John began his career at Hill Samuel & Co Limited where, over a 20 year period, he worked in every division of the bank, culminating in senior roles in risk, capital markets and treasury of the combined TSB and Hill Samuel Bank.
